Почему не отображается Navigation Drawer Activity?

Создаю проект в Android Studio 3.1.3
Выбрал макет Navigation Drawer Activity
Проект запускается на эмуляторе, но возникают ошибки рендеринга.
Перепробовал массу вариантов, ничего не помогло.
В чем может быть проблема?

тут подсказывают строку прописать недостающую, либо переключиться на СДК 27

Проект запускается на эмуляторе, но возникают ошибки рендеринга.

Можно скрин?
Предполагаю, что допущена ошибка и под эмулятором имелась ввиду превьюшка верстки, да? Ибо не знаю, как получить ошибку рендеринга на устройстве.
Если это так, то проверь сперва на устройстве, превьюшка в андроид студии - оочень не стабильная сущность, она почти всегда либо врет, либо вообще не работает
