А чего вас смущает, если у вас два выхода, наверняка один LVDS на встроенную матрицу, а второй например на HDMI.

значит этот конфиг есть где то еще. в современной убунте он вообще пуст и данные подтягиваются из подпапок рядом лежащих

be52, у меня его не было вообще я гуглил как создать его, там что то вводишь и он сам создается

kaktak255, Если у вас убунта, то так и должно быть (отсутствие Xorg.conf), ничего создавать в современных дистрибутивах не нужно!
Да и чтобы ваш новый xorg.conf заработал, нужно много действий совершить, переписать его куда следует, поправить кое-что...

Если нужно работать с двумя мониторами, то используйте утилиту xrandr в уже запущенном xwindow.

PS. Исключая конечно тот случай, когда X хотите запустить ручками со своим личным конфигом (но я это не делал уже лет 10-15, все из коробки работает практически везде во всех известных мне дистибутивах и на всех конфигурациях).
А у меня, к слову, порядка 300 компухтеров с линуксом под управлением на одной из моих работ...

PPS. Ну и если все же захотите запустить X, то startx вам в помошь, или просто X с параметрами (но там еще клиентов нужно ему докинуть, иначе - голый экран)

а в чём вопрос?
рабочий файл конфигурации "xorg.conf"
xorg.conf.new очевидно какой то бекап, он никак не относится к работающей в данный момент конфигурации.
