Почему EF core не может сравнить DateTimeOffse?

Вот такой код

((a.DateOfRecive == null || b.DateOfRecive == null) || a.DateOfRecive.Value.Month == DateTimeOffset.Now.Month)

или

((a.DateOfRecive == null || b.DateOfRecive == null) || a.DateOfRecive.Value.Month == b.DateOfRecive.Value.Month)

EF core 3.1;

И еще было бы неплохо увидеть полностью код query. Потому что из представленного ничего не понятно. Что такое a и b, например?

a и b это DateTimeOffset?.
суть в том что с остальными типами он преобразует в sql. тут нет.

Потому что EF не в курсе как преобразовать ваше выделение месяца из штампа времени и получить в итоге скуль-запрос. Не надо преобразований в теле запроса, либо пиши запрос вручную. Все.

EF не выполняет лямбды при выборке, как, например, при работе с IEnumerable, весь запрос транслируется в SQL и выполняется, при этом простые типы и функции приводятся к аналогичным типам и функциям SQL, если аналогов нет вылетает такое исключение, перезаписывайте запрос или приводите типы к простым, например в вашем случае присвойте DateTimeOffset.Now.Month целой переменной перед запросом.
