Как правильно экспортировать PhpExcel в Yii2?

Есть ссылка на действие table/export
<a href="/table/export">export</a>
При нажатии на ссылку открывается новая страница с текущим layout и кракозябрами в месте, где обычно выводится содержимое представления. При обновлении страницы скачивается нужный файл.
В действии actionExport() прописан код создания xlsx-файла, заканчивающися на
$objWriter->save('php://output'); и указан новый layout

Как сделать так, чтобы по нажатию ссылки сразу скачивался файл?

То же самое, сначала открывается страница, а файл грузится при ее обновлении
