Как настроить CORS nginx?

Есть domain1.ru который обращается к domain2.ru/api с запросом. Запрос блокируется CORS 405. Прописал в nginx к domain2

из официальной доки к CORS - не помогло. Что я упустил? Request Method OPTIONS

Access to XMLHttpRequest at 'https://domain2.ru/api/?token=z1x2dFg9Xa&Method=Ge...]' from origin 'https://domain.ru' has been blocked by CORS policy: Response to preflight request doesn't pass access control check: No 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' header is present on the requested resource.

GNUBack, я пробовал просто add_header 'Access-Control-Allow-Origin' * always; все равно не помогло
