Почему не открывается index.php на localhost?

Исходные данные:
ОС: Linux Mint 18.1
Сервер: nginx 1.2.1, mysql,php 7.0., wordpress. Предполагается использование на localhost
/etc/nginx/default.conf

    server_tokens off
    listen       80 default_server;
    server_name  localhost;

    charset koi8-r;
    access_log  /var/log/nginx/log/host.access.log  main;

    location / {
        root   /usr/local/share/nginx/html/index.php;
        index  index.html index.htm index.php;
    }

    error_page  404              /404.html;

    redirect server error pages to the static page /50x.html
   
    error_page   500 502 503 504  /50x.html;
    location = /50x.html {
        root   /usr/local/share/nginx/html;
    }

    proxy the PHP scripts to Apache listening on 127.0.0.1:80
    
    location ~ \.php$ {
       proxy_pass   http://127.0.0.1;
    }

     pass the PHP scripts to FastCGI server listening on 127.0.0.1:9000
    
    location ~ \.php$ {
        root           html;
        fastcgi_pass   127.0.0.1:9000;
        fastcgi_index  index.php;

     deny access to .htaccess files, if Apache's document root
     concurs with nginx's one

Cайт располагается в /usr/local/share/nginx/html/распакованное из архива содержимое wordpress

Проблема:
при вводе в адресную строку localhost/index.php ничего не найдено.
В чем ошибка?

И в индексах удали все кроме index.php

У меня такой строчки не было,поэтому надо добавить. Я правильно вписала?

удали вот этот код

proxy the PHP scripts to Apache listening on 127.0.0.1:80
    
    location ~ \.php$ {
       proxy_pass   http://127.0.0.1;
    }

     pass the PHP scripts to FastCGI server listening on 127.0.0.1:9000

И так же /location секцию замени на такую:

location / {
        root   /usr/local/share/nginx/html;
        index index.php;
        try_files index.php
    }

У тебя либо неправильно указана root директория для исполнения php скриптов, либо неправильно указана прослушка php для nginx
