0xD34F, проблема была в том, что оба они были NaN, я преобразовал их в строку toString();

Такая же проблема. Сейчас все сделал как Вы написали, но все равно не работает.
Проверяю пользователя на id:

const users = data.filter(item => {
         return +item._id !== +req.user._id;
});

console.log(users);
data.map(item => console.log(item._id, req.user._id));

Выводится два одинаковых id, но мне этого не нужно. Что не так?
